Malaria spreads from person to person by the bite of female Anopheles mosquito. It bites people and animals during the evening and night.
Anopheles mosquito breeds only in clean, fresh water.
To prevent mosquitoes from breeding, clean/drain all the fresh water collections within and surrounding the house.
To prevent mosquitoes from biting: sleep under the long lasting insecticidal net (LLIN)/...
insecticide treated bed net (ITN); and allow spraying inside the house when the spray team comes.
Fever with chills or shivering daily or on alternate day can be malaria.
All pregnant women with fever should be sent to go to the nearest PHC or hospital without delay.
A patient with severe malaria should be sent to the nearest hospital without delay.
If a patient appears to be very sick, but RDT and slide test is negative, it is best to send the patient to the nearest PHC/hospital without delay.
The Rapid Diagnosis Test kits (RDK) should be stored in a cool, dry place inside the house and should not be exposed to sunlight. It can be stored in a refrigerator.
